11.7.11: Devi (g-WhiZ) gave birth to four puppies this morning.
Chill delivered five beautiful Zap pups on Nov. 4th. She took her time and stretched it out from 12:30 until 4:30 am. We've also been blessed with two Fox/Turtle pups born Oct. 31st and five Try/Zap pups born Oct.29th.

I added another Topo/Bo/Koko clip and a g-WhiZ clip to the bottom section. I've started to change the index page to work with the newer browser versions. Firefox 3.5+, Chrome 3+ Safari 3+, Opera 10.5+ and IE9 can use HTML5, so I've added a small canvas slideshow for them. Safari 3+ and IE9 can play mp4 videos while Firefox 4+, Chrome 6+ and Opera 10.6+ can play webm videos so I'm using those formats on this page. Videos in other formats like wmv and mov are still on the litter pages. I wouldn't download these videos on your mobile unless you have an unlimited data account because they're all over 20 megs each.

Our Objective

Hello and welcome to the Blue Cedar Sport Dog web site.

We have posted this site with the hope that it will help other people doing mixed breedings for small, competitive sport dogs and flyball enthusiasts.
Competitive dog enthusiasts now desire a new set of characteristics in small canines previously unrequired and therefore not selected for. There are two approaches being taken to meet this demand. One is to use established purebreds and selectively breed for the required traits, such as smaller Border Collies or faster Jack Russells. The other is to mix breeds with complimenting characteristics and select out the best offspring. We are taking the second approach of mixing breeds because the combination of traits we are looking for is not available in any one breed.

Taking the most suitable large dog and breeding it to the most suitable small dog provides a short term solution with some excellent results but this lacks dependablity and repeatability which is the driving force behind creating breeds. By selectively breeding through numerous generations, we are striving to develop a line of dogs whose height will consistently stay under 16" and whose personality and performance capabilities are best suited for the new competitive sports that have recently gained popularity.

We have done a number of initial purebred and mixed crosses with mainly our own dogs, and then later on, we were fortunate to have other people allow us to breed to their incredible dogs, to them we will be forever grateful.
All of our breedings have been done with the hope that we would be keeping puppies from them that possess characteristics we consider beneficial to small competitive dogs. We sincerely thank all the people that have bought puppies from us, we feel very fortunate to have found so many wonderful homes for the puppies we could not keep.
On our site you will find pictures and movies of our dogs and puppies as well as a breeding and bloodline summary. Their purpose is to illustrate the results we obtained by doing a variety of crosses and how parental characteristics were distributed in the offspring.
There are also some flyball training techniques that we use to simplify and make more enjoyable the challenge of teaching a dog to race.
